Lawn Aqua Club Rules

Updated as of April 1st, 2022

The following are the Rules that will govern Lawn Aqua Club (“LAC”) daily operations for the 2022 season. These Rules  may be changed, amended, or otherwise altered by the Board of Directors depending on need and  circumstances. Changes will be communicated to the membership via email and postings to the LAC Facebook Page  Calendar.

Dates & Hours of Operation

Opening Day is Saturday, June 4th, and we will close on Labor Day, Monday, September 5th. The 2022 Club’s hours of operations are:

Day Open Close
Monday – Wednesday 11:00 AM 10:00 PM
Thursday 11:00 AM 10:30 PM
Friday 11:00 AM 11:00 PM
Saturday 11:00 AM 11:30 PM
Sunday 12:00 PM 10:00 PM

NOTE: The LAC Board may change these days and hours of operation based on IDPH guidance and/or member  attendance. Members should monitor communications from the LAC board closely

Dues & Fees

  • Lawn Aqua is a member-owned Club, and our dues and fees are “shares” or ownership stakes in the Club, not  annual user or entry fees, and thus are not refundable.
  • Age is based on the age of the member during this calendar year, i.e., by 12/31/22
  • There are 2 payment options for 2021 Dues and Fees:

A LA CARTE

  • $100 Base Dues per household, PLUS…
  • $150 – per person age 3 and older (children 2 and under are free)
  • FAMILY PACKAGE: $825 – (includes the $100 base dues)

Note: Under both options (A La Carte and Family Package) each household can include one (1) person who does not live  in the home, e.g., a nanny, babysitter, relative. All other household members must reside in the home.

The Board can levy special fees and assessments in addition to the regular dues and fees above, but there are no  plans to do so in 2022.

Club Entry, Exit & ID Cards

  • Each member will receive a unique ID card that will include their Name, Household Number, and Primary Phone  Number.
  • As in the past, all members and guests are to enter LAC through the Pool House (white painted  building), not through the Clubhouse or through exterior gates.
  • Members will keep their IDs with them at all times, i.e. not give to attendant
  • Members will exit LAC via the Pool House doors when the pools close, and via the Clubhouse doors or gate next  to the basketball court after picnic area closes.
  • Any member caught letting another person use their ID will be suspended from LAC for one (1) week. A  2nd occurrence will result in suspension of that ID card for the season.

Use of Facilities & Aquatic Features

  • All persons entering LAC, regardless of age, are presumed to be able to swim and act in a responsible and  respectable manner. It is the responsibility of every parent, guardian, and or nanny/babysitter, and NOT LAC’s  employees, to determine what level of supervision is necessary for each child and guest they bring or allow into  the Club.
  • Use of LAC’s facilities are for Members only and their properly-paid-for guests and are strictly limited to the  Club’s listed hours of operations. The Club’s facilities are for member and guest use and enjoyment and their use  is permitted only with the acknowledgement by participants that there is an assumption of risk of bodily harm  inherent with such activities and LAC shall be held harmless for any injury/damages resulting from participation  in such activities.
  • Members are prohibited from renting or reserving any of the Club’s facilities, e.g. placing a bag or cooler on a  table or chair and then leaving LAC. Any table, chair, etc. that has been unoccupied for more than 1 hour is  considered an open and available table, chair, etc.
  • The sundeck reclining lounge chairs are intended for adult use.
  • There will be 15-minute Adult Swims for those 18 and older at every quarter-to-the-hour, e.g. 11:45 am, 12:45  pm, 1:45 pm, etc. Adults will have exclusive use of the Senior and Junior pools during these times, but the  Kiddie Pool will remain open to children 5 and under during Adult Swims.
  • ALL of LAC’s aquatic features (i.e., Senior pool, Junior pool, and Kiddie Pool) will close at 9:45 PM, regardless of  the closing times for the rest of the Club.
  • All persons will vacate the pools and pool decks at or before the 9:45 and either exit LAC’s premises or move to  the Picnic area or Clubhouse.
  • The Sand Volleyball court is meant for volleyball only and is not to be used as a sand-box for young children  because there is an expensive drainage system beneath the sand.
  • Use of the Clubhouse is intended for adults and employees only, as are the Clubhouse restrooms. However,  children can use the Clubhouse restrooms AFTER 10 pm.
  • The Club’s board and management have discretion to close the Club, in total or in part, due to inclement  weather. These closings may be temporary or permanent (i.e. for the rest of that day/night) and LAC will  communicate the status via email and the LAC Facebook Calendar page, so members are encouraged to monitor  these for updates.

Swim Patch Test

LAC requires that our swimmers (members and guests) who want to use our pools have the appropriate  swimming skills needed to do so. And we do that via a swim test administered by our Lifeguard Managers during  our adult swim (i.e. at the quarter to every hour).

Swimmers (generally young children) who successfully complete the “Blue” swim-test are allowed to swim in our  senior pool and junior pool, but NOT in the deep end of the Senior Pool, often referred to as “the Pit”. To pass  the Blue test the swimmer has to swim one (1) full length of the senior pool.

Swimmers who successfully complete the “Yellow” swim-test are allowed to swim in our senior pool and junior  pool, including the deep end of the senior pool, i.e. “the Pit”. To pass the Yellow test the swimmer has to swim  two (2) full lengths of the senior pool.

During each test, swimmers will have to demonstrate:

  • Freestyle stroke (arms coming fully out of the water, with constant kicking)
  • No doggy-paddling
  • No kicking off the ground or grabbing the wall
  • No breaks during a lap
  • Regular breathing patterns & face in and out of the water

Our young members and guests who successfully complete the tests will receive a patch of the color of the test (Blue or  Yellow) which they will pin to their swimsuits. There is no cost for the test or initial patch, but the cost to replace a lost  patch is $5.

EXTREMELY IMPORTANT

Parents may have a different view or opinion of their child’s performance than the Lifeguard Manager who  administers the test. PLEASE do not challenge the results; our managers have been certified by the Red Cross  and trained to recognize and rate different swimming abilities.

Results of the test cannot be appealed and will not be overturned. The only way to change the results is for the  swimmer to practice more and test again. Also, if a swimmer has a patch but a lifeguard sees him/her  struggling, the manager may require a retest.

Swim Lessons

As in the past, some of our more experienced lifeguards will be offering swim lessons. Group lessons will occur  during the season and run for four (4) weeks, Mon thru Thurs, 10 AM to 10:45 AM.

The Club does not provide individual swim lessons, but if you want your child to receive private swim lessons  from a particular lifeguard please contact her/him individually.

Members can register for more than one session provided there is room in the class.

Sign-ups for swim lessons will be administered through email. To register send an email  to swimlessons@lawnaqua.club.

Safety

All members, guests and employees of LAC must exercise caution to ensure safety and act in a courteous and  respectful manner toward one another.

Swimming when lifeguards are not on duty is strictly prohibited.

Personal swim-aids (e.g., life-jackets, wings, etc) are prohibited in the Senior Pool. Swim-aids are allowed in the  Junior and Baby Pools provided they are permanent parts of a swim suit, e.g., sewn into the suit. • Members & guests should refrain from long, distracting conversations with lifeguards.

Members and guests must follow directions given by LAC’s staff.

LAC’s employees have full discretion over which aquatic facilities a person can use, and can restrict use if  necessary, especially in matters related to safety and swimming ability.
